More Conference

Stairway church

Starting off

The leadership team at Stairway introduced several foundational concepts and motifs central to that year's conference. Building on these, we developed multiple creative paths and ultimately chose to focus on the theme of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold or silver, embracing the philosophy that the item is more beautiful for having been damaged. This concept of Kintsugi resonates deeply with the Christian belief that humans are imperfect beings, and it is through God's redemptive power that we are restored and beautified even further.

Having established the tone and visual theme, we shifted our focus to the task of bringing the project to life.

Bringing design to life

Drawing inspiration from the concept of Kintsukuroi, we meticulously designed a cohesive visual narrative across all the event's mediums. This included developing eye-catching imagery for social media campaigns, ensuring a seamless user experience on the ticketing website, and producing a suite of printed materials that maintained the aesthetic continuity of the event's branding.

Our efforts extended to the digital realm, with advertisements designed to not only inform but also to inspire potential attendees. During the event, the visuals came to life on holding screens, enriching the environment with the golden threads of our theme. Keynote presentations were enhanced with carefully crafted slides that underscored each speaker's message while remaining true to our visual identity.

The engagement went beyond the passive, incorporating interactive elements that invited participation and reflection, further embedding the event's ethos in the minds of those present. To streamline the experience, we provided logistical materials, such as volunteer lanyards that doubled as identifiers and conversation starters, as well as speaker introductions that set the stage for each address. All these components worked in concert to create a tangible and immersive atmosphere that encapsulated the essence of the MORE Conference.

Results

The success of this year's visual theme was evidenced by the high level of engagement with the interactive elements we introduced. Attendees were not merely spectators but active participants, interacting with the materials and activities that echoed the conference's core message of love, justice and kingdom through the beauty of imperfection. The delegates' interactions went beyond mere surface-level involvement, often sparking deeper conversations and reflections.

The positive feedback we received was numerous and enthusiastic. Delegates shared their appreciation for how the visuals complemented and enhanced their experience, contributing to a sense of community and shared understanding within the event's context. It was clear that our careful crafting of the event's aesthetic—rooted in a profound and shared human experience—did not go unnoticed. This positive reception served as a testament to the visual theme's impact, affirming its role in the overall success of the MORE Conference.
